the WoW vs. GW topic
This topic has created a great contrevercy in the MMORPG war, enough contervercy that people even make videos about it.
Through out my experience in Playing the Games World Of Warcraft, and Guild Wars, i have encountered numerous times players who say quotes such as, "Guild Wars is Gay!", "This game sucks, the Level Cap is 20..pfft..", "WoW is better!", but thats just in the Guild Wars servers, when i am on World of Warcraft and i am asked what other games i have played, and i respond saying Guild Wars. i get comments such as.. "ya..thats a lame game", "wow totally owns that peace of ****"..you get the idea.
so i decided to try and find out what leads people to such comments, and no, its not be cause they are N00bs, newbies, Nooblets or whatever.
People Keep Saying Guild Wars Is An MMORPG,..wrong, it is massive multiplayer, but Nc soft stated many times in its adds that GW falls under the Category Action RPG, and you can tell that it is, if you compare the combat system of GW to that of Final Fantasy XI there is a tremendous change in speed and involvement in combat. WIKIPEDIA described Guild Wars as the following..."Guild Wars, also known as Guild Wars Prophecies, is a Competitive/Cooperative Online Role-Playing Game (CORPG) created by ArenaNet, a subsidiary of the South Korean game publisher NCsoft. The game is the first in a series of stand alone games set in the Guild Wars universe, following by Guild Wars Factions and Guild Wars Nightfall. Guild Wars is one of only a few commercially produced and distributed online role-playing games to offer play without subscription fee.
Guild Wars shares some features with massively multiplayer online role-playing games(MMORPG), however it was termed a CORPG by its developers to emphasise the differences in its approach to online role-play compared to many of its contemporaries. Guild Wars has features such as a low level cap, instanced game worlds, NPC henchmen to assist players and instant travel which combine to support casual online RPG game play. The game is also designed for competitive play, where characters may be created at the highest level specifically for Player vs Player (PvP) games. Also, skills are regularly modified to ensure balance and variety in gameplay. Guild Wars tournaments are regularly arranged offering prize money to the winning teams."
On the Other Hand There is the World Of Warcraft, from the Warcraft series by Blizzard, franchise that has been around since 1994, they have experienced many sucesses through out the past years, and many claim that World Of Warcraft is there master piece. WIKI says that......."World of Warcraft (commonly abbreviated to WoW) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by Blizzard Entertainment. It is the fourth game in the Warcraft series, excluding expansion packs and the cancelled Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans. The Warcraft games are set in the Warcraft Universe, a fantasy setting introduced by Warcraft: Orcs & Humans in 1994. World of Warcraft itself takes place within the world of Azeroth, four years after the events at the conclusion of Blizzard's previous release, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. World of Warcraft's release celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise.
Although its initial release was hampered by server stability and performance issues, problems which still intermittently recur,[1] the game is widely regarded as a success. World of Warcraft has almost seven million active subscriptions worldwide as of September 2006.[2]"
it is pretty obvious the vast difference between the 2 descriptions. when i searched around for topics regarding this debate i fell upon questions such as which game should i get? is wow a better game due to its large population?
but the general question was which is the best game for me...
the best game, of these two is all a matter of interest and opinion, there is no best game, each of them fall under there own category and cannot go head to head, they also both have there own pros and cons.
World of Warcraft is deep and complex with many areas that require much time to master, the world of warcraft world contains large number of content ranging from 1000s or items, armors, dungeons, and players, also a game that leans toward PvE rather the PvP, that doesnt mean it cant, infact it contains two factions, the Alliance and the Horde, who are always getting in constant frays over land and loot. this game is a powerful game, holding a population of 7 million players and rising, one of its greatest elements is the races and the set-up, such as things like Pets, Mounts, and also the Server set-up, no loading screens whats so ever, perfect specs for a great MMORPG game. one of my favorates would be jump..i jump where ever i go..i sort of miss it..
but the population does no completely put it as the #1 game, maybe the #1 popular and best seller, but simply not the best to some of us gw players, and even wow players. some cons would be the fee, everyone hates the fee, but people managed to find ways around it such as privately hosted servers, but one of the things that crippled me in the decision of if i should continue to pay or not was the requirements, not the computer requirements but the time, many instances in the game require 3-12 hours straight, something that some people cant do, specially kids that have school and homework or adult parents with jobs and children to feel and tend. but the game doesnt require you to play that many hours, ofcourse not they cant force you, but if you want to be L33t like the others, i am afraid your only options would be Ebay or a Lifeless life of grinding which you may or may not enjoy, specially when you hit 60..thats when the real deal begins.
On the Other Hand, the is the Game GuildWars released by NCsoft and Hosted by Arenanet, this game delivers the blade straight through the chest, with intence PvP combat, at times..you dont even have time to blink.
this game contains few PvE elements such as Quests, Few Dungeon style Maps like SF (surrows Furnace) and weapons to collect and Elite monsters to hunt. I enjoy this game the most due to its simple set-up, such as No Monthly Fee, and also the time requirement, this game can be played at anytime of anyday, of any hour, and is a great game for beginners to master
with a lower learning curve then WoW which contains a population of Hardcore ex-runescapers and EQers, Guild Wars is not in anyway inferior to WoW in any shape or form, Guild Wars is simply perfect for what it is, the level cap is also perfect for what it is, some people demand that it is increased but that would defeat the purpose of the game and completely alters the Large PvP aspect about it, many people say.."am lvl 20, there is nothing to do now..i beat the game.." but they are wrong, the game only begins at the level 20, that is when many start seeking there Titles, Elite skills, and Mission Bonuses not Complete, or they have finally started mastering there character and can enter a Powerful guild in need of his skills, or instead decides to lead on a group of players into victories that grants them treasures ranging from Cash tournement prises to overtaking a town and venturing into its depths for its lost treasures, and fighting honorably for your faction or comrades. Guild Wars carries many great aspects and it packs a population of 2 million and rising, but everything has its cons, some Would be, Repetition, such as many missions simply are just too alike, in objective, reward, and theme, also lacks weapon and armor content, and many would agree that the loading times can grow a bit anoying at times, but the positives out weight the negatives, enough that it would lead me to by it for the needs it gives me, and i love it for what it rewards me, like NCsoft said, we reward you for your skill not time, if thats you, then this just might be the game for you.

Did you copy and paste this entire topic? It's logically constructed, but incoherent as hell. That's an oddity.
Anyways, WoW vs. GW arguments always turn into flamefests. This will be no different. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

sorry to say this.
OH NOESSZ another WOW vs GW thread.
Edit:
okies since i promised:
Like Zinger314 said both games have their own pros and cons.
WoW:
Grind,More PvE focused, have subscription fee, mounts,Uber items and being leet counts for something, difficult to maintain a social life, cartoon like toons, different races, Higher player base globally, more social activities ingame, mostly steamless world, and auction House exist.
GW:
Less grind, More PvP focused, no Subcription fee(not really true but anyways), no mounts (instant mapping) no Uber items and being leet is moot, actually a family friendy game that allows you to have a life outside of the game, better graphical representation, single race, moderate player base globally, not that many ingame social interaction activity, mostly instanced world, and no auction house.
You cant always get what you want, even if you are willing to pay for it. What GW lacks, it will have to come up with creative ways to compensate without fundementally changing/unbalancing the core principles of the game.

very simply this is a GW FANSITE (that means we are here as fans of GW not wow.
this subject has been beaten to death.
reported as another unnecessary, redundant flame fest about to happen

Actually, he doesn't specifically, but millions of people do. Also, please people I don't know why this forum acts like the words "WoW" are like Voldemort in Harry
Potter, where no one can speak of it.
Acknowledge the facts, and stop being such ignoramuses about it, that this is a valid discussion.

The OP is correct, if you read between the gibberish, run on sentences and lack of proper spelling and punctuation.
Comparing WoW vs GW is a waste of time. Each has their strengths and weaknesses, but they are not really the same style game.
Want to complete quests, get phat lewt, and go on massive 40 man raids? Go WoW. Want to do instanced dungeons and PvP? Go GW.

I just don't think it's a valid comparison. Not only are the games very different, but the people who play them are different. In WoW you get more role-playing types and it feels like an RPG. GW that's just not the case. I've never seen anyone role playing outside of "more like suxon" type stuff in alliance battles. I would say if you strip away the game's setting (you know, Dwarves, monsters and stuff), GW game play has more in common with Madden than WoW in the reliance on strategy, reflexes, play/skill selection...you get the idea. So please, lets stop comparing WoW and GW

GW FTW!
Anyways WoW is World of Warcraft.
I think WoW has more content but is less story driven. Guild wars has less content but more story driven and focused a little more on PvP (And GW's PvP is better i'v eheard from other people).
WoW is a game where you have to commit more time into it and that's something most people don't have.

This is actually something that hits home quite a bit - literally. I have a housemate who is into WoW, and every so often it feels like he just can't resist point-scoring - comments like "WoW has six million people, how many does GW have?", and whenever he gets the chance he'll start going into why GW is worse than WoW.
The truth is that they have different focuses. WoW is about developing your character, your character's position in the world, and their power - there is a big difference between a character who's been level 60 for a while and one who's only just hit 60 due to the superior equipment the more experienced character has gathered. While GW has a fairly low cap in character power - good equipment can give you an edge and gathering more skills can allow you to tweak your build, but on the whole the playing field is only slanted a little between a character who's only just hit 20 and a character with perfect equipment and every skill available. Neither is better than the other - they're just targetted at completely different audiences.
Personally, I prefer GW because, to modify a previously-stated expression, I prefer to get into things quickly rather than spending hours grinding levels and adding to my crafting ability - it's a style of play I've tried multiple times before on NWN servers and invariably grown bored with. While I certainly think my GW characters do have personalities, I have pencil-and-paper roleplaying games for in-depth character development and interaction.

The facts have been acknowledged. They have been stated hundreds, if not thousands, of times. Not all of us want to see a new post of the same thing every few weeks. It's pointless.
